Browsing the map

You do not need an account and are not asked for any information to browse the map. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not record your visit per person.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which briefly processes connection details (IP address, browser type) for security and availability. Our servers are located in Finlandiya (Hetzner, Helsinki).

If you take part in the election vote

When you vote we store: which election (mayor or parliament), the municipality or electoral district you chose, your choice, on a preference ballot the positions you marked and the order you marked them in, the time of the vote and the moment you gave explicit consent.

We do not ask for or store your name, phone number, email or ID number.

To prevent a second vote from the same device, a randomly generated, signed device key is written to your browser (local storage, not a cookie). The server keeps only a one-way digest of it that is specific to this voting round and cannot be joined to any other record on the site.

To limit abuse we keep a one-way digest of your IP address made with a key that changes every day. The address itself is not stored and the digest cannot be matched to the same address the next day.

Cloudflare Turnstile may be used to stop automated voting; that check is carried out by Cloudflare.

Political opinion: special category data

A vote choice is a political opinion and special category data. You must tick a separate explicit-consent box before voting; without it no vote is taken.

Your choice is used in aggregate statistics only and is never shared per person. The result of a municipality or district is not shown under 10 votes. Nothing is published before voting closes or during the legal election blackout.

This is an open vote: there is no phone verification, participants select themselves, and the results are not a scientific poll representing the electorate.

Who receives it

Only aggregate results are published. Individual vote records are given to no one. Our processors: Cloudflare (delivery and security) and hosting (Finlandiya (Hetzner, Helsinki)).

How long

Vote records carry no identity and are kept for aggregate statistics. IP digests are only useful on the day they are made. The device key stays in your browser; clearing your browser data removes it.

Your rights

You may ask for information about, correction or deletion of your data and withdraw your consent. Because vote records carry no identity, we can only look for a vote using what you tell us (where you voted and roughly when). You may complain to the TRNC Personal Data Protection Board.
